We are an Italian language school dedicated to teaching and promoting
the Italian language and Italian culture. The school conducts classes,
Italian Language Workshops and seminars as well as private lessons. Our two
Bay Area locations are in San Francisco and in Berkeley in the East Bay.

Italian Language Courses


new classes
Italian Levels 1-6
TeachersLearn basic Italian, for beginners and intermediate students, through our 6 course program. Classes are structured to help you study and learn Italian grammar principles while emphasizing conversation.

Italian Conversation Classes
Basic Conversation courses are for those students who are starting to speak the language. Students should know the present and past verb tenses.
Intermediate Conversation courses are for students with knowledge of the present, past and future verb tenses.
Advanced Conversation courses are for students proficient in the Italian language who would like to continue to study Italian and learn and expand their speaking skills. Various aspects of Italian culture serve as the basis for class discussion.

Italian for Travelers: "Postcards from Italy"
No prior knowledge of the language is necessary for this course. In these classes students will learn sufficient basic language skills to allow them to handle the most common tourist situations, e.g., the hotel, museum, shopping, restaurants, etc.

Corsi di Cultura Generale


These special advanced-level classes are for students who want to study and learn about particular aspects of Italian culture. The lessons are conducted in Italian. Courses have included:

Giovani Scrittori
Introduction to contemporary Italian literature

ItalyQuesta Italia
Italian current events as seen on Italian television and reported in the Italian press

Andiamo all'Opera
The arias and stories of Italian opera and the lives of the composers are studied and discussed in class

Private Lessons


Private and small group private language lessons are specially tailored to meet the specific needs of the student and they are scheduled according to the availability of the student. Lessons are conducted at the School's San Francisco and East Bay facilities.

Grammar Workshops and Lessons


Our Grammar Workshops focus on those aspects of the Italian language that American students find difficult to learn. In general, lessons last two and one half hours and concentrate on a single narrow subject. Italian Language and Grammar Workshops

Circolo Cultura Italiana


Once a month an organized event Italian Opera will highlight a specific aspect of Italian culture such as painting, cuisine, literature, politics, theater, film, music and other topics of interest to italophiles. These events are in English. Italian Cultural Workshops

espressoMonday through Thursday 10:30am - 1:30pm and 2:30pm - 6pm, and Friday 2:30pm - 6:30pm. Our Director reserves Thursday evenings from 5pm - 6pm for the purpose of meeting with students.
